I'm fundraising for the Children's Hospital Foundation

I've created this page because we want to give back and say thanks 💝

The 2nd princess of our family entered the world on May 18, weighing 3.3kgs, measuring 50cm long. She suffered severe meconium aspiration and required life saving treatment to get her through the acute stage. It was 6 hrs before we could see her, days before we could hold her, and nearly a month before we heard her cry. We have gone from ICU to the ward and back a couple of times but over 180 days later we haven’t left the hospital yet. 

Aubree Hope Wells was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, the rarest and most severe type of congenital heart disease and has so far undergone an interim operation at 2weeks of age to change the pressures of the heart and lungs before she could have the first stage of her heart repair… ‘The Norwood’ procedure at 2 months old, one of three procedures required in a single ventricle heart repair. We have had a wonderful team of medical personnel at the Brisbane children’s hospital and we are forever thankful to the surgeons, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physios, music therapists and social workers. Along with her heart defect she has had a number of other complications and has managed to prove doctors wrong on more occasions than one but the severity of her heart defect and other complications means her future is in limbo and we are just taking things week by week. 
We have had a rollercoaster ride and we’re not sure when or if this ride will ever end. Our family is exhausted; physically and mentally and just treading water some days. But we have had some amazing support of wonderful organisations along the way one being the children’s hospital foundation. 

We will be forever grateful for all of the support that the Children’s Hospital Foundation have done to help us along our rocky hospital journey over the past 6 months, from coffee vouchers, meals, milestone presents, a great escape area for the siblings during long days at the hospital and all of the mental support provided by Caitlin and her team. Violet has been made to feel super special on many occasions where we have had tough long days by Aubrees bedside. 

We will be forever grateful for all of the support provided by this wonderful foundation!
