We're fundraising for the Children's Hospital Foundation
We're inspired by the work that the Children’s Hospital Foundation do so we have partnered with them to make a difference.
Help us “save a brain”
At least 1 in 5 children will be admitted to a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for an acute neurological problem or brain injury (e.g. trauma, seizures or infection). Even children admitted for other reasons are at risk.
Our group of clinicians and families is committed to “saving a brain” and aims to prevent more brain damage and reduce the long-term burden on children, families and carers.
The team aims to improve how we provide treatments in PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit) and the hospital so that the children admitted with acute neurological conditions or secondary neurological conditions are managed in a way that is least disruptive to their brains and how the family/carers function.
This care ties in with an existing program “PICU Liberation” within PICU. This can be promoted via a variety of methods such as research, education/training and awareness campaigns in partnership with our patients.
