Registration for 2021
In 2021 the annual Bike 4 Burns ride will go from Gympie to Brisbane, a 720km ride with 38 registered riders. As this event raises vital funds for children's burns research we are inviting all other emergency services to participate in a 720km ride virtually at your own pace, in your own time, at your own location in May. For more information please see the below FAQ's and contact the team to register.
What and when is Bike 4 Burns
Bike 4 Burns was started in 2007 to help raise funds for vital burns research. Generally held in May each year a group of dedicated riders from QFES and other first responders will gather and ride along a route together decided by the Committee.
In 2021 we are excited to announce the ride is due to commence on the 12 May from Gympie and ending at the Queensland Children's Hospital on the 18th May.
For those who were unable to register to ride in the physical event we are inviting you to sign up and virtually ride in your own location at your own pace the 720km that other riders are completing in May. It is now more important than ever before to help the Children's Hospital Foundation fund this critical research area.
What do I need to do?
Register, share your commitment with friends and family. For those registering virtually you can complete your ride at your own pace, in your own location.
Contact the Chlidren's Hospital Foundation at email@example.com if you have any questions.
How do I track my kilometres?
We have linked up with Strava and Fitbit to automatically sync with your fundraising page and add to your kilometres when you record an activity.
If you’re not already connected with these devices, you can always use your Smartphone and download Strava or Fitbit to get started.
Once installed and your account has been created with your preferred app, login to your profile page and head to the 'My Fitness Activity' tab. Here you can now connect up to your preferred fitness app.
Click on the icon of the app you'd like to connect - this will ask you to login and authorise us to access your fitness account.
You're now connected!
When using your fitness app, remember to create a new activity through your app and stop when you're finished each time - this will ensure your kilometres are recorded onto your Bike 4 Burns page.
You can also manually add an activity through the 'My Fitness Activity' tab too.
Do I need to fundraise?
By registering, you are joining other emergency service colleagues and coming together to help change the the outcomes for kids with burns injuries. We encourage you to set a fundraising goal of no less than $100 to help fund critical burns research. Fundraising can be as easy as sending a couple of emails or text messages to friends and family or by simply sharing your commitment and page on your social media.
All it takes is 5 people donating $20. The Children's Hospital Foundation are here to support you and help you reach your fundraising goal. Please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
I am going to complete my ride virtually when can I start tracking my kilometres?
You can start tracking and completing your 720km as soon as you register however we encourage you to complete these in the month of May if you are completing this challenge virtually.
How do I update my fundraising goal?
Log into your account and edit your profile to update your fundraising target. You can increase this at any time!
