Across Queensland, everyday people are stepping up in extraordinary ways to support kids and families at Children’s Hospital Foundation. From fitness challenges and community events to raffles and social fundraisers, each story starts with one simple decision: to do something that helps.
Let these stories spark ideas, confidence, and maybe even your next fundraiser.
Burpees for the Brave
Percy Graeme, Cairns
Sometimes inspiration comes from seeing the impact up close.
Percy chose to take on Burpees for the Brave after working directly with children who needed support from the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Training a young person who relied on the Foundation’s assistance made the cause personal, and motivated Percy to get involved in a bigger way.
What started as a fitness challenge quickly became something more powerful. Through fundraising, Percy saw friends, family and community rally behind the cause, proving just how much impact one person can make with the support of those around them.
Bowls Day Fundraiser
Renita, Kingaroy
For Renita and her family, fundraising was about giving back to the place that cared for the people they love most.
When her niece Kaia was diagnosed with a Wilms’ Tumour at just seven years old, the Children’s Hospital became a central part of their lives. With deep family ties to lawn bowls, Renita and her relatives organised a community bowls day, expanding it with trivia, bingo, raffles and auctions to maximise their impact.
With close to 100 people attending, the event raised nearly $13,000, turning community connection into meaningful support for kids and families facing incredibly tough times.
JB74 QLD Camping & Raffle Fundraiser
4WD Jimny Group
Fundraising doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it’s about bringing people together.
For JB74 QLD, their annual camping event and raffle has become a tradition that strengthens community while giving back. Each year, the group selects a different charity, and when they chose the Children’s Hospital Foundation, they knew their efforts would help bring comfort and care to families when they need it most.
By combining something they already loved with fundraising, the group created an event that felt fun, meaningful, and impactful for everyone involved.
