Last year, Queensland Children’s Hospital treated more than 1,743 children for burns injuries. Over one-third of these children required surgery for their injuries.

The QFD Bike 4 Burns charity bike ride helps the Children's Hospital Foundation ensure kids with burns have access to the best possible care and treatment – promoting a healthy lifestyle for emergency services staff.

Since the ride began nearly two decades ago, researchers and cliniciands have changed the way kids are treated for burns injuries across the state by identifying dressings that reduce pain and promote faster wound healing.

This year's ride - Rail Trail Express - will start in Eidsvold on 13 May and finish at the Emergency Services Complex in Kedron on 19 May.  The ride will cover over 500 kilometres over seven days on a journey through Eidsvold, Gayndah, Proston, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Toogoolawah, Wulkuraka and finishing in Kedron.
