The Odyssey For Sick Kids
On the 23.10.26 I'll be taking off on The Odyssey for Sick Kids.
A 204 KM journey on foot over 4 Days in an Odysseus kit of sorts.
Starting from Birch Carroll and Coyle Maroochydore on journey to the Star Casino & Resort in Broadbeach Gold Coast, where the Australian International Movie Convention will be taking place from the 26th of October.
Child patients and their families have to endure insurmountable challenges when the kids are hospitalised for short or long term stays. And for some their last days. Reflecting on the 'against all odds' underlying theme of The Odyssey movie, I felt like this might be a worthy Odyssey to endure for them.
As a dad of 4, I hope I am never in that position and hope to help as many others that are or will be in the future.
Why an Odyssey to the Australian International Movie Convention?
Well I own a company called OzCoWilliams Cinema Advertising, and I was heading there for the convention at the Gold Coast. I thought this would be a good thing to do. on my way down there.
And with the support of the head of the Cinema Association Australasia, Cameron Mitchell who is also on a mission to make sick kids lives better with a new initiative coming soon.
My Toyota Prado has just hit 317,000KM's as well so it is due a few days off.
On the way down to the GC I will be dropping into Limelight Morayfield, Cineplex Southbank, Event Cinemas Garden City Mt Gravatt to recharge with essential electrolytes and carbs like popcorn and frozen coke.
I just ticked over to 47 years of age and carrying 95kgs these days from a 'fighting' weight of sub 90, so I am hoping that with a bit of WD40 on the joints I will make it to the Gold Coast without rusting up.
I hope with your support, I can use this Odyssey to help make the lives of hospitalised children and their families less of one.
