I'm running 100km to raise $100K!

Hey!
My name is Max Shearer and I am an ambassador for the Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF). In July this year I am running 100kms from the Gold Coast to Brisbane to raise $100K for the Ian Frazer Center for Children’s Immunotherapy Research supported by CHF. I am doing this because in 2014 when I was 10 years old, I was diagnosed with ganglioglioma – a rare type of brain cancer – and I want to do whatever I can to ensure that children with cancer can have the best possible outcomes, given what I have been through.

In 2014, I underwent 3 brain surgeries and started 12 months of chemotherapy. I also had further brain surgeries in 2019 and 2022. My treatment has left me with many side effects, including a 50% visual impairment, chronic fatigue and persistent headaches. I am supporting the Ian Frazer Immunotherapy Centre because immunotherapy is an alternative cancer treatment to chemotherapy, which results in fewer side effects.

Since my cancer diagnosis, things have been very hard, but immunotherapy can ensure that others who have cancer can have improved quality of life.
As tough as running 100kms will be, I know that it’s way easier than going through the treatment that I had.

Your support would be amazing.
Thank you, thank you!!! 🩵🩵🩵
